An excerpt from Creating a COLLABORATIVE ENTERPRISE
A selection from the Chapter “Who is their leadership”
The Collaborative Enterprise knows that it is the leadership that provides the direction and the consistency required for the CE to evolve and perform to meet the organization’s goals and objectives.
For those who do not yet fully understand the inter-workings of the CE organization, what is confusing is that there is a more ambiguous line of separation for leadership.
There are high levels, medium levels and low levels of leadership. You may say, “The same levels of leadership exist in my traditional organization, too.” I say, “You may have the levels of leadership by title, but I bet you don’t have them in terms of functionality, responsibility and accountability.”
You see, the CE looks at leadership differently than most traditional companies. They identify leadership as the act of leading at all levels of the organization — not just leading from the CEO or another C-level position, while everyone else in a leadership position, who mostly just have a title, seem to follow along. CE leadership at the highest level has tremendous respect and trust for the leadership at the lowest level within the organization and vise versa. All leaders see themselves as partners with the entire workforce within a CE, and with the stakeholders in general.
